About The Position
The Staff Accountant is responsible for financial analysis and the month-end close process and procedures for assigned areas, which may include store margin, store expenses, inventory, and fixed assets. Responsibilities may rotate over time as part of the company’s career-development strategy. The role also supports internal controls and auditor interactions, and regularly collaborates with peers and cross-functional leaders to solve problems and improve efficiency. The position is hybrid, with in-office work Monday through Wednesday.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 1–3 years of experience in public and/or corporate accounting.
- Experience with financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and flexible, with the ability to work in a dynamic, team-centric environment.
- Results-driven with strong analytical skills.
- Proactive and confident in communication.
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships to support goals and objectives.
- Ability to manage priorities and time effectively.
- Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Nice To Haves
- CPA strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end accounting procedures, including preparing journal entries.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Conduct financial analysis and communicate with stakeholders to explain operating results.
- Provide accounting support to franchisees and corporate stores through the SD+ ticket system.
- Generate management reporting to support decision-making.
- Coordinate deliverables regularly with auditors, external parties, and leadership.
- Work on special projects to improve processes and efficiency, including IT-based initiatives.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process as required.
- Perform other accounting responsibilities in support of general accounting.
- Take on other responsibilities as assigned.
