About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the period-end close, performing account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and managing accounting activities related to capital projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across the Finance department and cross-functionally with project managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • 2–4 years of general accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across functions

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA-track candidates preferred, not required
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred
  • Experience with financial close software (e.g. Blackline, FloQast) a plus
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent strategic planning and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead organizational change and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and recurring entries
  • Perform period-end financial close activities, including ERP module closes and the generation of various key system reports
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting analyses
  • Manage the full accounting lifecycle of capital expenditures: project setup, tracking expenditures and status, placing completed projects into service with the appropriate asset class and depreciable lives, and preparing fixed asset rollforwards and account reconciliations at period end
  • Partner with Treasury to review and verify subledger postings, resolve coding errors, and ensure accurate plant-level tracking
  • Assist with inventory management, including managing physical inventory counts, properly accounting for consigned inventory and perpetual inventories
  • Maintain organized accounting records and ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and internal controls
  • Support compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 (SOX) testing
  • Assist in the fulfillment of internal and external audit requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information needed for financial reporting and process evaluations
  • Support process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of accounting and reporting practices.
  • Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis as needed
