About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the Finance team within Aramark Sports + Entertainment by performing day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining the integrity of financial records, and assisting with the month-end and year-end close process for operations at Capital One Arena. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with 1–2 years of experience who is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The Staff Accountant will work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting for food & beverage, retail, catering, and event operations while supporting continuous process improvements and maintaining strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • Associates/ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 1–2 years of professional accounting experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete an Excel skills assessment as part of the interview process.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospitality, sports & entertainment, food service, retail, or other high-volume transactional environments is preferred.
  • Typing skill 50 wpm preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze event-related revenues and expenses and investigate variances as needed.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Partner with operations, payroll, and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes.
  • Perform ad hoc financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as assigned.
  • Operate technology, systems, and software such as voicemail systems, copy/scanners, personal computers, and MS Office.
