About The Position

Garden Street Communities is one of the largest privately held residential land developers operating in seven states across the Southeast. Currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Pensacola, FL. This position will report directly to and support the Controller.

Requirements

An Accounting Degree (or actively pursuing such a degree) from an accredited university
Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting department
Working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office
Basic/advanced project and general accounting experience
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and relentless desire to learn
Detail-oriented and highly organized individual
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
Commitment to abide by the workplace rules – attendance, dress code, codes of conduct
Ability to work in a team environment to support regional operations in their field activities

Nice To Haves

Construction Industry knowledge or experience
Processing invoice and pay application experience
Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge
Account reconciliations experience

Responsibilities

Accomplish tasks in accordance with established procedures, standards, and applicable legal parameters
Review invoices, check requests, and pay applications for posting
Review prepaid, accounts receivable, burden, and correcting journal entries for posting
Review/generate updates to the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP) from the accounting team
Review inventory status report weekly
Prepare cash, monthly, and quarterly journal entries for review
Prepare monthly account reconciliations
Prepare cost allocations for review
Prepare bank engagement package
Assign and create project numbers in accounting software
Set up prepaid and earnest money deposit (EMD) account numbers
