About The Position

Looking to grow your accounting career in a fast-moving corporate finance team where accuracy, ownership, and technology matter? HSP Direct, an elite fundraising agency based in Ashburn, VA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support billing, reconciliations, accounts payable, month-end close, reporting, and other day-to-day financial operations. You’ll work closely with the Controller and finance team to maintain accurate records, resolve accounting questions, improve processes, and support timely financial reporting. This is a strong opportunity for someone with at least two years of accounting experience who wants to build a deeper foundation in corporate accounting while learning new systems and technology-driven tools. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Ashburn, VA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes
  • Experience with billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, or reporting
  • Strong Excel, organization, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work with internal teams, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with an accounting emphasis, or related field
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or a similar ERP/accounting system
  • Interest in using technology, automation, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial insight

Responsibilities

  • Prepare customer billing and complete monthly billing reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable paperwork, deposits, and related accounting documentation
  • Prepare schedules, sales reports, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Research discrepancies, resolve issues, and communicate with internal teams, customers, and vendors
  • Support process improvements, automation opportunities, and other accounting and finance projects
