About The Position

The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Supervisor and supports other department staff. This role contributes as an integral part of a team that produces financial reporting and budgets for the Firm. The Staff Accountant is responsible for producing reports quickly while maintaining integrity and accuracy of data. They will develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets to prepare analyses and reports using advanced Excel functions. This role will review and analyze general ledger transactions and accounts, using technical judgment to ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. The Staff Accountant will participate in the firm-wide annual forecasting/budgeting processes, perform bank reconciliations and identify/research any reconciling items, and perform monthly account reviews and variance analyses. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will act as a financial liaison to multiple departments by understanding and servicing their business needs, and will be responsible for the analysis, management, and implementation of financial initiatives. This role identifies opportunities for improvement and provides information and recommendations to management. The Staff Accountant also helps process charitable contributions for the Sidley Austin Foundation. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; or a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Economics with a Master’s degree in Accounting
