About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing full-cycle accounting functions for an assigned PFC business entity, including transaction processing, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. The position operates as a full-charge accountant for a designated entity while cross-training across other PFC entities to support business continuity, workload balancing, and internal coverage needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience managing full-cycle accounting or multiple sets of books is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for assigned entity(ies), ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and correcting entries.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure all cash transactions are accurately recorded and reflected in the general ledger.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciling items and variances in a timely manner.
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies or unusual items to the Accounting Manager promptly.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready reconciliation documentation in accordance with internal controls.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and financial institutions, as needed, to resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices for accuracy, proper documentation, and appropriate approvals.
  • Assign general ledger coding in accordance with company policies and budgets.
  • Process invoices and prepare payments (checks/electronic) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Generate invoices and billings (e.g., rental income and other charges) accurately and timely.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure timely collections.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable balances and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
  • Produce daily and monthly cash flow reports as required.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide explanations and recommendations to management.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with audit preparation and provide requested documentation.
  • Prepare and file required tax remittances, including Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) and quarterly income taxes, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records, including digital document management.
  • Assist with fixed asset tracking and annual physical inventory.
  • Cross-train in accounting functions across multiple PFC entities to ensure operational coverage.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
