About The Position

Staff Accountant II is a key contributor to the accuracy and reliability of ServiceNet’s financial records. You’ll own the full cycle of balance sheet account reconciliation across the organization — from monthly prep and variance investigation through journal entry posting and schedule maintenance. This role requires someone who is technically strong, highly organized, and comfortable partnering with program and operational staff to resolve accounting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of general ledger accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, V-Lookups, and multi-sheet reconciliation workbooks.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple reconciliation deadlines concurrently.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, particularly as it applies to balance sheet presentation and account classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with direct ownership of balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Experience in nonprofit, public, or government-funded accounting environments.
  • Familiarity with grant and state contract billing and compliance requirements (e.g., DDS, DMH, DPH).
  • Experience with ERP or fund accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts monthly, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue, and other designated accounts.
  • Execute assigned month-end close tasks within published close calendar deadlines.
  • Maintain the organization’s lease accounting schedules, including right-of-use asset and lease liability rollforwards.
  • Prepare cost reimbursement billings and state and local contract billings (e.g., DDS, DMH, DPH) in accordance with contract terms.
  • Identify and implement improvements to reconciliation processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and auditability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
