About The Position

Carvana is revolutionizing the car buying industry and is looking for a high-energy and motivated Staff Accountant to join their talented and high-performing team. The Staff Accountant will primarily be responsible for maintaining various general ledger accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and working with other members of the Accounting Department in a team-based environment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or a related field.
  • A thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • The ability to collaborate among multiple business units.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking skills, and robust understanding of Finance and Economics.
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and work collaboratively with others.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Detailed and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large data sets across multiple platforms (Excel, SQL, ERP).
  • Ability to manipulate data in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Text To Columns, IF Formulas).
  • Experience working with a major ERP system.
  • Possesses or in the pursuit of a CPA license.
  • Master’s of Accounting.
  • Public accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing journal entries based on operational information derived from multiple data sources.
  • Reconciling Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts, and maintaining supporting workbooks or subledgers.
  • Reviewing monthly financial results.
  • Preparing monthly management reporting and ad-hoc special projects.
  • Analyzing trends and variances to forecast and prior periods.
  • Working directly/indirectly with external and internal auditors to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
  • Communicating and collaborating with team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
