About The Position

The Student - Jersey Washing Attendant is responsible for assisting in the operation of coordinating the work efforts of the production areas of the laundry department and conducting weekly inventories. Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.

Requirements

• Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer
• Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A or higher
• Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer
• Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
• Ability to operate washing and drying machines
• Ability to handle inquiries and problems efficiently and direct to the proper staff member
• Ability to report for work on time and notify the appropriate individual in advance if unable to work
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Responsibilities

• Sorts torn and stained articles
• Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions
• Soaks contaminated articles and processes in de-staining cycle
• Cleans lint traps regularly
• Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap or other cleaning agent by programming laundry machines.
• Operates laundry machinery such as washers and dryers
• Lifts clean wet articles from washer and places them successively into dryers for measured time cycles
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
