About The Position

Under the limited supervision of the Accessibility Resources and Testing Director, the SSWAT Student Success Coordinator independently administers and oversees the University’s disability support and internal testing programs. This position exercises independent judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying applicable laws, regulations, institutional policies and procedures, safeguarding confidential disability-related documentation; resolving complex student concerns; coordinating services; and developing initiatives that promote student wellness, retention, and academic success. The position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational effectiveness of the assigned unit, including program planning, resource management, budget administration, data management, compliance, and coordination with faculty, staff, students, and University departments.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in related area and a minimum of one-year experience directly related to the duties specified or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently, exercise sound professional judgment and make appropriate decisions within established policies
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple complex and concurrent responsibilities and establish priorities, meet deadlines and independently organize and coordinate work
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations and institutional protocols governing services and accommodations for students with disabilities
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Knowledge of computerized testing programs, software with the ability to upload software and troubleshoot computerized testing programs

Responsibilities

Independently administer, operate, supervise, and manage the unit and its programs
Review, evaluate, organize, and maintain confidential documentation related to student disabilities in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, privacy requirements, and University policies.
Serve as a liaison and resource in identifying, addressing, and resolving issues involving students with disabilities; coordinating with appropriate University personnel and departments as necessary.
Coordinate and support the SSWAT program, which connects students with disabilities to individual peer success coaches who assist students in navigating University services, activities, and personnel
Provide individualized coaching, guidance, and mentoring to students with disabilities to promote personal development, self-advocacy, confidence, appropriate professional and social behaviors, dress, personal presentation, daily living skills, and help them gain a sense of purpose within the University community
Develop and coordinate, in collaboration with appropriate University personnel, workshops and other learning opportunities for faculty, staff, and students designed to increase awareness of disability-related issues, reduce stigma, and address unconscious bias.
Collaborate with the Director to develop, coordinate, and implement co-curricular activities for students with disabilities to enhance and support wellness and academic success
Receive, assess, and assist in resolving student complaints and concerns related to disability services, accommodations, access, and University processes
Participate in the development and preparation of the annual budget for assigned area; and ensure expenditures remain within approved budget
Prepare or authorize purchase requisitions, payment requests, and other financial documentation in accordance with University policies and procedures
Compile, analyze, maintain and report data from various sources including accounting
Establish and maintain accurate, current and secure office files, records and logs for assigned areas; develop, prepare, and monitor recordkeeping systems to ensure data integrity and accessibility
Regular and predictable attendance required
Perform other job-related duties and projects assigned in support of the University’s mission, core values, and goals
