About The Position

Ericsson-developed ASICs are the foundation of our Baseband and Radio network products, driving our leadership in 5G and 6G markets. These components present compelling engineering challenges across complexity, power, performance, and advanced process node technologies — making this an exciting environment for experienced engineers. We are seeking an experienced SW/FW Developer based in the USA to develop code for validating and debugging ASIC hardware silicon prior to release. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering teams in Austin and Sweden across IP, ASIC, and system levels, ensuring final ASIC products meet program goals with the highest quality standards.

  • Demonstrated commitment to good coding practices and the ability to promote these standards across teams
  • Experience with source code management tools (e.g., Git) and IDEs
  • Ability to understand and articulate hardware architecture, data paths, and IP functions
  • Strong ability to read and write technical specifications and quickly grasp new technical concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and bash scripting
  • Solid knowledge of validation principles and test coverage strategies
  • Enthusiasm for in-lab system work, including platform management and test instrument setup
  • Demonstrated success working across geographies and cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences, including managers and architects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently through ambiguous tasks with a collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with leveraging AI for validation coverage analysis and code development efficiency
  • Exposure to network communications, hardware emulators, and validation platforms

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and validate ASIC device drivers and test cases in C/C++ within the Zephyr RTOS framework, or equivalent Linux kernel/driver development experience
  • Develop framework and infrastructure components in Python to support the run environment and automation
  • Assess and visualize ASIC test case coverage to identify quality improvement opportunities
  • Conduct in-lab testing and proof-of-concept work to validate code and coverage improvements
  • Participate in collaborative technical discussions and contribute to scalable, reusable frameworks and test cases
  • Identify technical innovations to enhance Ericsson's validation and methodology capabilities
  • Partner with ASIC architects to define coverage plans and resolve technical issues
