About the role: As an SSDS MK 2 Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the operational readiness of U.S. Navy combat systems supporting the Fleet. Working onsite at Wallops Island, VA, you will perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, system monitoring, and operational support for Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) MK 2 platforms and associated Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT) equipment. Your work directly supports mission execution by ensuring complex combat system hardware and software remain fully operational, reliable, and ready to support testing, training, and fleet modernization efforts. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced Navy professionals and engineers while supporting one of the Navy's premier integrated combat systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) equipment.
  • Experience performing documented organizational-level maintenance on SSDS systems.
  • Experience monitoring and managing operation of SSDS MK 2 Open Architecture (OA) Tech Refresh MODs 1C, 3C, 5C, and 6C.
  • Experience supporting SSDS OA MK 2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C, 2C, 3C, and 5C configurations.
  • Experience supporting SSDS OA MK 2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C, 2C, 3C, and 5C with TI-12H ORDALT configurations.
  • Experience supporting Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT) AN/USQ-T46D(V) configurations.
  • Ability to analyze complex system failures and restore operational capability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within an integrated government and contractor team.
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • No dual citizenship
  • Active Secret clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior U.S. Navy experience supporting Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) programs.
  • Experience supporting Navy test, evaluation, training, or fleet readiness activities.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance documentation, technical manuals, and configuration management processes.
  • Experience supporting combat systems integration or systems modernization efforts.
  • Previous experience supporting Department of Defense or Navy acquisition programs.
  • Active Top Secret clearance preferred
  • Active Security+ or other relevant DoD technical certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) equipment in accordance with approved technical documentation.
  • Assess, troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve hardware, software, and system-level faults affecting SSDS operations.
  • Monitor, manage, and maintain operational readiness of SSDS MK 2 Open Architecture (OA) Tech Refresh configurations.
  • Execute organizational-level maintenance activities while maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Support system testing, operational verification, and readiness events for SSDS and associated combat system equipment.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, engineers, and other maintenance technicians to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Navy maintenance procedures, technical manuals, configuration management requirements, and safety standards.
  • Support continuous system availability by identifying maintenance trends and recommending improvements to system reliability and sustainment activities.
