About The Position

In this role, you’ll contribute to the sustainment and operational readiness of U.S. Navy Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) legacy combat systems, working alongside engineers, technicians, and fleet operators to ensure mission-critical capabilities remain available to support national defense. About the role: As an SSDS Legacy Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and sustaining the U.S. Navy's Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) legacy configurations supporting operational and test environments. You will assess system performance, diagnose complex hardware and software issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure systems remain fully operational to support mission execution. Working as part of an integrated team of engineers, technicians, and government personnel, you'll help deliver reliable combat system capabilities that directly support the fleet and the warfighter. This position is ideal for experienced maintenance professionals who enjoy solving technical challenges in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment where system availability and operational excellence are paramount.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven (7) years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) legacy systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing documented organizational-level maintenance on SSDS legacy configurations.
  • Experience monitoring, operating, and managing SSDS legacy system configurations in support of operational missions.
  • Experience diagnosing complex hardware, software, and system integration issues within tactical combat systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute technical manuals, engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, and system documentation.
  • Experience documenting maintenance activities and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment supporting government customers and mission-critical operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain installation access and comply with all customer security and safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting U.S. Navy surface combat systems.
  • Experience supporting Aegis, SSDS Mk 1/Mk 2, or other Navy combat systems.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance programs, configuration management, and technical documentation processes.
  • Experience supporting system integration, operational testing, or developmental testing activities.
  • Experience using Navy maintenance management or logistics support systems.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform organizational-level corrective and preventive maintenance on SSDS legacy systems and associated equipment.
  • Assess, troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve hardware, software, and system integration issues affecting SSDS operational readiness.
  • Monitor and manage operation of SSDS legacy configurations to ensure continuous mission capability.
  • Execute documented maintenance procedures, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and functional testing in accordance with technical documentation.
  • Document maintenance actions, discrepancies, repairs, and system status using approved Navy maintenance processes and records.
  • Support system operational testing, validation, and troubleshooting during maintenance periods and mission operations.
  • Collaborate with government personnel, engineers, logistics teams, and other technicians to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, cybersecurity, quality assurance, and configuration management requirements.
