About The Position

WUSC is seeking a consultant (individual, organization, or firm) to conduct a Tracer Study for its Student Refugee Program (SRP). The SRP has been resettling refugee youth to Canada for post-secondary education since 1978. The study aims to provide evidence of the program's impact and inform strategies for its future expansion. The consultant will be responsible for all aspects of the study, including research design, data collection and analysis, and report writing. The study will be national in scope and cover the program's history from 1978 to the present, collecting data in both English and French. WUSC is a Canadian global development organization focused on education and economic outcomes for young people, working with a diverse network of partners.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Social Sciences/Humanities, Higher Education Sector, Refugee Resettlement, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience in primary research methods (interviews, focus groups, surveys) and research design ensuring culturally sensitive and accurate data collection.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and synthesize research findings for non-academic audiences.
  • Exceptional writing and oral communication skills in English.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in qualitative research methodologies (KIIs, FGDs, ethnographic observation).
  • Capacity to reach the target group in a timely manner.
  • Commitment to conducting equity-oriented research, particularly for vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to translate complex data into practical adaptive management recommendations.
  • Experience conducting research in Canada.
  • Ability to communicate in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • French language proficiency is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Tracer Study, including refining research questions and design.
  • Maintain ethical standards throughout the study.
  • Conduct a literature review.
  • Carry out data collection and analysis.
  • Draft the final report.
  • Deliver an Inception Tracer Study report outlining methodology, tools, research questions, data analysis plan, and work plan.
  • Deliver a draft Tracer Study report with preliminary findings.
  • Conduct a validation/interpretation workshop with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Deliver a final Tracer Study report incorporating feedback.
  • Present the Tracer Study report, including a summary of key findings.
