About The Position

The Senior Specialist Vendor Management and Technology Procurement supports the execution of sourcing, procurement, and vendor management activities across enterprise technology categories, including software, SaaS, hardware, telecommunications, and IT services. This role contributes to cost optimization, contract execution, and vendor performance while operating within established strategies and policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 8+ years of relevant technology procurement experience required.
  • Able and willing to work onsite and in-person at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio, TX.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree - related field preferred.
  • Technology Procurement certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of technology procurement and contract management to support efficient and compliant purchasing processes.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for the Information Services Division across software, hardware, telecom, and professional services.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Identify and implement incremental improvements to procurement processes and documentation.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners.
  • Support and, when appropriate, lead sourcing efforts and contract negotiations for technology purchases.
  • Engage with suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate sourcing options and recommend vendors based on cost, quality, and service.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including issue resolution, performance tracking, and contract lifecycle activities (renewals, amendments).
  • Assist in drafting and revising contract terms in coordination with internal subject matter experts.
  • Handle multiple sourcing and procurement efforts while prioritizing to meet business needs.
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on procurement processes, vendor engagement, and contract considerations.
  • Support leadership by preparing analysis and recommendations related to vendor selection, cost savings, and contract structures.
  • Contribute to process improvements, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Support financial analysis, including spend tracking and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure purchases align with approved budgets and procurement processes.
  • Review contracts for alignment with company policies and escalates non-standard terms as needed.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Security, and other stakeholders to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Assist in resolving contract-related issues and provides interpretation of contractual terms.
