About The Position

The Sr. Training Specialist role plays a critical role in advancing our Coach & Grow Talent across the enterprise with a focus on our Customer Service Center (CSC) in Raleigh. This role supports simple, scalable, and impactful learning experiences. The Sr. Training Specialist collaborates closely with subject matter experts, Training Managers, HR Partners, and business leaders to drive high-quality initiatives that enhance the Team Member Experience and promote operational excellence. This role will report to the Director of Organizational Development. This role is responsible for enabling the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Training Department. This role will primarily focus on creating learning experiences, inclusive of curriculum design, while managing in-person and virtual workshop planning and preparation.

Requirements

  • Superior organization and planning skills as demonstrated through the coordination of complex events or projects
  • Demonstrated experience independently planning and managing complex events, preferably learning events that lead to meaningful participant experiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Professional and unbiased with demonstrated mastery of customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across functions and levels to achieve business objectives and drive strategic change.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a coordinator or large-scale administrative role; preferably in a Training or HR related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Project Management, Business Administration or similar field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain ownership of all onboarding experiences for the CSC.
  • Work with key leaders to build unique onboarding programs customized to the needs of each business function.
  • Manage the planning and execution of supplementary onboarding experiences such as store visits, coffee chats, and team member network signups while building additional components that drive team member engagement.
  • Determine program KPIs and create quarterly report on team member survey results and performance as it correlates with pathway completion.
  • Advise on connection points and best practices from CSC to leverage in Field and Supply Chain Onboarding.
  • Support change management efforts by designing communications plans, tools, and new processes to support OD/training activities.
  • Partner with business leaders to define, translate, and build success profiles into structured learning pathways.
  • Build tools and training experiences that strengthen time to competence for frontline and leadership roles.
  • Define program KPIs and analyze impact on team member performance and business results.
  • Ensure all programs are inclusive, accessible, and designed to support AAP’s Culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Partner across Training organization to evaluate existing content, suggest improvements, design and build content as determined by business opportunities and reporting analytics.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide intake process to consult on best learning practices for request.
  • Identify and recommend learning solutions to support requests from CSC functions, leveraging cross-functional training resources as needed.
  • Support the creation of curriculum assets: eLearning modules, videos, microlearning, simulations, ILT/vILT, and performance support tools.
  • Manage the planning and execution of multiple events and workshops to ensure a meaningful and memorable experience for participants (room scheduling, registration, travel, accommodations, etc).
  • Cultivates and manages relationships and timely communications for Leaders to include workshop registrations, travel arrangements, class schedules, participant concerns, and program feedback.
  • Maintain material and supply inventories to ensure adequate supplies are on hand when needed.
  • Be responsible for timely and accurate reporting of all workshop expenses.
  • Provide customer service and support for participants, field partners, and trainers, for current and future events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendor partners, including hotels, caterers, venues, suppliers, and travel agents.
  • Lead the facilitation of weekly section of workshops to introduce participants.
  • Be present and available at training programs to ensure program is running smoothly and respond to participant and trainer needs.
