About The Position

Cleveland Steel Container, an Employee Owned and World Class Steel Pail Manufacturing company, is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and customer-oriented individual that has a positive attitude and shares the values of our company culture, which is built around teamwork, family, honest communication and producing desirable results for our Youngstown and Warren, OH manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for supporting production equipment in two high speed container manufacturing plants located close together. This is a hands on, skilled trade position requiring strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery. This position will be supported by a degreed electrical engineer. They will be able to work together to solve production problems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Tool & Die and maintenance machining experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in operating machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface and I.D./O.D. grinders
  • Experience building, repairing, and maintaining metal stamping dies and tooling components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.)
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to support and drive solutions related to die and tooling performance
  • Reliable, safety-focused, with a strong work ethic and consistent work record
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • technical certification or associate degree in machining or Tool & Die preferred

Responsibilities

  • Repair, maintain, install, and set dies and related tooling, including preventative maintenance and first-piece verification.
  • Perform manual machining and fabricate replacement or new die components using machine tools.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, die assembly prints, and specifications.
  • Lay out metal stock; set up, operate, and adjust machine tools to manufacture and repair die parts.
  • Fit and assemble die components, including shimming and tooling stack-up adjustments.
  • Work with and install precision tooling, including carbide components.
  • Make jigs, fixtures, and gauges using machinist hand tools.
  • Remain on a job until repair is completed.
