Sr. Test Engineer (Automation)
About The Position
RIVA Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer to join its P-TACTS program team. The role is responsible for designing and executing test strategies and automation solutions that ensure the quality, security, and performance of mission-critical software in a modern DevSecOps environment. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience building Java and Selenium automation frameworks from scratch and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will work with developers, product owners, security teams, and other stakeholders to define test requirements, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle. Security, performance, and compliance testing experience is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, and 10 years of related experience; alternatively, 8 years of related experience with a master’s degree.
- Strong Java programming skills, including object-oriented design, the Collections Framework, exception handling, and Java 8 or later features such as streams and lambdas.
- Demonstrated experience building Java-based test automation frameworks from scratch and maintaining them.
- Hands-on Selenium WebDriver experience, preferably Selenium 4, including explicit and fluent waits, dynamic and stale element handling, multiple windows, alerts, file uploads, and JavascriptExecutor.
- Experience with TestNG, including parallel execution, listeners, and test reporting.
- Hands-on experience implementing BDD with Cucumber and Gherkin.
- Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience automating REST API tests in Java using TestNG.
- Experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or Test Engineer in an Agile environment.
- Hands-on experience testing web-based applications, including front-end UI and back-end services.
- Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification at minimum; an AWS Associate, Professional, or Specialty certification also meets this requirement.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Rally for work and defect tracking and GitLab for source control and CI/CD; comparable tools such as Jira, GitHub, or Jenkins are acceptable.
- Postman experience.
- Experience with security testing tools and methods, including static and dynamic code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validation.
- Experience with performance and load testing tools and methodologies.
- Experience running Selenium tests at scale using Selenium Grid or cloud-based browser services.
- Familiarity with AWS services for testing, monitoring, and environment automation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test plans, strategies, and test cases for the P-TACTS DevSecOps environment.
- Design, build, and maintain a Java-based Selenium automation framework using Page Object Model, TestNG, and Cucumber, including parallel execution, reusable utilities, and centralized exception handling.
- Integrate automated smoke and regression suites into CI/CD pipelines and generate reports for each run.
- Support security testing, including static and dynamic code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validation.
- Support performance, load, and stress testing to assess scalability and reliability.
- Use monitoring and analytics tools to evaluate system performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Set up, manage, and maintain test environments that mirror production conditions.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to integrate testing throughout the SDLC.
- Produce accessible test reports for non-technical stakeholders, including status, failure details, logs, and screenshots; track defects and coordinate resolution with engineering teams.
- Extend and enhance API testing frameworks and scripts, and participate in manual testing of user interfaces and customer-facing features.
- Create and maintain documentation of test processes and quality metrics.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, to ensure test coverage and workload balance.
