About The Position

The Sr. Tax Accountant will perform tax compliance work and research for S and C Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, Not-for-Profit Organizations, Foreign Entities, and Individuals. The primary responsibilities will include Federal and State Income and Franchise Tax preparation and review. This role requires the ability to gather and analyze financial information, review tax codes and regulations, prepare supporting work papers, and process tax returns. The position also involves preparing data requests for third-party providers, analyzing tax items for reporting, communicating with accounting personnel to resolve issues, assisting with quarterly taxable income estimates and year-end basis calculations, researching tax questions, assisting with ASC 740 tax provisions, coordinating unique transactions, and handling sales tax reporting, filing, and payments. The role may also involve assisting with special projects and corresponding with tax authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from four-year College or university required
  • 4-6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Strong excel skills required

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or progress towards passing exam preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state income and franchise tax returns.
  • Gather and analyze financial information to calculate tax adjustments.
  • Review the Tax Code and Regulations for support of tax adjustments.
  • Prepare and review supporting work papers.
  • Prepare, review, and process tax returns.
  • Prepare data requests for third party providers and analyze tax items for reporting.
  • Communicate and coordinate with accounting personnel to resolve any questions or issues that arise through data analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly taxable income estimates (federal and state) and year-end basis calculations.
  • Research tax questions for the various entities and shareholders.
  • Assistance with annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision, including gathering and analyzing source data.
  • Assist accountants in the review, categorization, and coordination of unique transactions.
  • Assist with various special projects.
  • Correspond to tax authorities concerning notices.
  • Assist with regular sales tax reporting, filing, and payments.
