Veeam SoftwareRemote, District of Columbia, USA, DC
$168,300 - $312,600Remote

About The Position

As a Senior Enterprise Pre-Sales Systems Engineer at Veeam, you will serve as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to some of the world’s largest organizations facing complex data resilience and cyber recovery challenges. You will engage deeply with both technical practitioners and executive stakeholders — translating business risk into architecture, and architecture into outcomes. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that blends deep hands-on technical expertise with executive-level influence. You will be at the center of Veeam’s enterprise growth — designing secure, resilient, and future-ready architectures across hybrid, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments, and driving measurable business outcomes for the world’s most demanding customers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or senior technical leadership within enterprise IT environments within DoD/DoD programs (a must)!
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles including discovery, solution design, POC execution, and executive engagement through to close.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing virtual environments — including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix AHV — at enterprise scale. Candidates must have direct experience standing up and operating virtualized infrastructure, not just familiarity.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise storage systems, including SAN, NAS, object storage, and backup appliances in production environments.
  • Background working with or alongside data protection, cyber resilience, or enterprise infrastructure vendors.
  • Strong foundational knowledge across data resilience, infrastructure platforms, cloud services, networking, and security — with the ability to go deep on architecture when the conversation demands it.
  • Solid understanding of data security, privacy, governance, and regulatory considerations relevant to enterprise customers, including frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and sector-specific requirements.
  • Foundational understanding of AI, machine learning, and large language models (LLMs), with the ability to clearly articulate how trusted, resilient, and governed data underpins enterprise AI initiatives and responsible AI adoption.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems in enterprise deployments, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills — equally effective in a whiteboard architecture session with a lead architect and a strategic business review with a CIO.
  • Ability to construct and deliver a compelling technical narrative that connects infrastructure decisions to business outcomes, cyber risk reduction, and competitive differentiation.
  • Strong written communication skills for producing architecture documents, POC reports, and executive business case materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with public cloud platforms — AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud — including cloud-native backup, storage, and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and cloud-native data protection platforms such as Kasten K10.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 environments and SaaS data protection considerations including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Exposure to zero trust architecture frameworks and their application to data protection and cyber resilience design.
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, REST APIs) for infrastructure automation and backup workflow integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex enterprise pre-sales engagements end-to-end, including discovery, solution design, architecture validation, competitive differentiation, and technical closure.
  • Own the technical relationship throughout the sales cycle, acting as the primary point of contact for engineering and architecture stakeholders on strategic accounts.
  • Translate customer business objectives, risk posture, and compliance requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient technical architectures.
  • Deliver high-impact technical demonstrations, workshops, and executive-level presentations that connect Veeam’s capabilities to business value and cyber risk reduction.
  • Present confidently to C-level executives, CISOs, and senior IT leadership — adapting technical depth to match audience sophistication without losing substance.
  • Develop and deliver compelling narratives that position Veeam as the strategic data resilience platform of choice across competitive displacement and greenfield opportunities.
  • Design, manage, and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs) that are tightly aligned to customer success criteria, operational realities, and measurable exit conditions.
  • Build and configure representative lab environments — including virtualized infrastructure, backup repositories, cloud integration, and application protection — to demonstrate real-world capabilities under customer-representative conditions.
  • Document POC findings, architecture decisions, and business outcomes in executive-ready format to accelerate technical closure.
  • Partner closely with account executives, channel partners, product management, and engineering to influence solution architecture, roadmap direction, and customer outcomes.
  • Serve as a field feedback loop — capturing competitive intelligence, customer requirements, and technical objections and channeling them into product and go-to-market strategy.
  • Mentor and support less experienced SE team members, contributing to technical enablement and team capability development.
