About The Position

GE Aerospace’s Defense Engines & Services organization provides combat and trainer engines, rotorcraft and turboprop engines, mobility engines, and marine gas turbines for the U.S. Armed Forces and its allies. The organization designs, manufactures, and assembles military engines and provides services and support to approximately 30,000 engines in the field. The Sr Systems Development Engine Qualification Lead serves as the technical authority for GE Aerospace’s Small Uncrewed Engines development programs. The role is custodian of the Propulsion System Integrity Program (PSIP) under MIL-STD-3024 and owns the strategy, documentation, and execution of qualification testing needed to transition next-generation turbojet engines from engineering models to flight-certified assets. The position requires approximately 25% travel.

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 or more years of experience leading gas turbine engine design, turbojet engine design, systems integration, and/or test engineering.
  • Thorough working knowledge of military propulsion standards, specifically MIL-STD-3024 (PSIP), and engine structural integrity concepts.
  • Direct experience defending technical packages or flight readiness reviews to federal agencies, such as the FAA Propulsion discipline or military program offices.
  • Proficiency with engine performance modeling software such as NPSS or structural lifecycle prediction tools.

Responsibilities

  • Author and maintain the formal PSIP Master Plan, enforcing MIL-STD-3024 requirements across design verification, structural testing, and service life tracking.
  • Lead the definition of engine qualification programs and write testing profiles, plans, and test matrices.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for military airworthiness authorities, including the USAF, U.S. Navy, and AFLCMC Propulsion Directorate, to achieve final Type Certification.
  • Oversee complex ground and altitude test cell operations.
  • Analyze real-time telemetry, thermal fatigue, and rotor dynamics data to troubleshoot qualification anomalies.
