The SENIOR SURVEY TECHNICIAN position works under the general supervision of a registered land surveyor and utilizes the principles and practices of surveying while performing preliminary, construction, boundary, and topographic surveys, as well as gather, analyze and monitor, simple to moderately complex surveying-related data. May serve as lead worker to less experienced survey staff. Research, process, review and/or preparation of a variety of survey related maps, documents, records, reports and correspondence. Operates computer-aided design, modeling and/or other application programs. Collects, compiles and/or analyzes data and field samples. Assists in the preparation of program and project schedules. Reviews drawings for conformance with established standards. Reads and interprets plans and specifications. Able to complete work assignments independently; supervisor advises techniques and procedures for unusual or difficult problems or non-routine work. Provides effective day-to-day supervision and training of assigned survey crew staff and assists in training entry-level staff May, from time to time, act as a Party Chief. Operates and maintains a variety of survey equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Determines equipment, materials and personnel needed for specific jobs. Identifies and implements priorities, effective courses of action to complete work assignments by established deadlines. Maintains files of maps, documents, and other records. Makes legible survey notes and drawings. Efficiently operates survey instruments, including GPS, robotics, electronic total stations and data collectors. Enters survey data in an organized and coherent manner into a data collector Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
