About The Position

As a Survey Technician, you will support mission-critical construction projects, including hyperscale data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and other complex infrastructure developments. The role performs field surveying, layout verification, quality control measurements, and construction staking using Trimble survey equipment and software platforms. The Survey Technician works closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, BIM/VDC teams, and craft professionals to ensure accurate project layout, alignment, and documentation throughout all phases of construction. The role requires work in active construction environments, compliance with safety requirements, and the ability to travel to construction sites nationwide as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of construction surveying experience.
Working knowledge of survey principles, coordinate systems, control networks, and construction layout procedures.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
Strong understanding of construction surveying methods and best practices.
High attention to detail and exceptional measurement accuracy.
Ability to work in dynamic, active construction environments.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive project schedules.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Geomatics, or a related field.
Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or data center construction projects.
3+ years of experience with Trimble surveying technologies.
Proficiency with Trimble Business Center (TBC), Trimble Siteworks, Trimble Access, Trimble GNSS/GPS Systems, and robotic total stations.
Experience integrating survey data with BIM/VDC workflows and Autodesk platforms.
Familiarity with data center construction, electrical infrastructure, and mission-critical facilities.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
FAA Part 107 Drone License.

Responsibilities

Perform construction staking and layout for foundations, structural steel, equipment pads, underground utilities, roadways, electrical infrastructure, and building components.
Operate and maintain Trimble total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, robotic instruments, and data collectors.
Use Trimble Business Center (TBC), Trimble Access, Trimble Siteworks, and other survey software to process and manage field data.
Interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, civil plans, utility plans, and specifications to establish project control points.
Verify as-built conditions and perform quality assurance/quality control surveys throughout construction activities.
Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks on active construction sites.
Collaborate with project management and field operations teams to identify and resolve layout discrepancies.
Generate survey reports, field notes, stakeout documentation, and as-built deliverables.
Assist with reality capture activities using laser scanning, GPS technologies, and drone-based mapping programs when applicable.
Ensure surveying activities align with project schedules while maintaining accuracy and safety.
Support construction teams in fast-paced mission-critical environments where schedule adherence and precision affect project success.
