The Sr Staff Image Data Scientist is responsible for providing technical design, implementation, and operational health of critical analysis platforms in the assigned department. This role serves as a technology advocate within the St. Jude image analysis community, architecting, designing, and developing image analysis platforms, independently leading engineering discussions, and assessing impacts to overall technology performance. The individual will engage with leadership and other internal and external experts. The NeuroImage Analysis core in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology (DNB) at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a team of computational scientists focused on transforming image data into biological knowledge. They utilize computational tools at the intersection of biology and cutting-edge microscopy methods to understand how brains are built during development and how neurons function in the brain and malfunction in disease. This position emphasizes time-series analysis to advance research in calcium imaging, neural and behavioral dynamics, and chromatin dynamics. The goal is to explore the nexus of image analysis and data science, dive into unique and complex data, tackle neurobiology’s toughest challenges through innovative computational research, simplify the intricate, and make a real difference.
