About The Position
Jerry.ai is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join its central Data Science & Analytics team. This role involves embedding within a core product or business area (growth, product, AI and automation, strategic partnerships) to own the analytical function end-to-end. The Data Science & Analytics team is crucial for driving data insights, informing decision-making, and accelerating business growth. The team is composed of analytical powerhouses who solve complex problems and push forward key initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who wants to make a tangible impact on a rapidly growing business, moving from 5M to 50M customers and aiming to become a $10B business in the next four years.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience at a consulting firm, investment bank, or high-growth technology company.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to pull, structure, and interpret data independently.
- Track record of owning ambiguous analytical problems and driving them to a business outcome.
- Clear, persuasive communicator who can influence decisions at the leadership level.
- First principles thinker: breaks ambiguous problems into clear hypotheses before touching data.
- Analytically strong (comfortable with SQL or Python).
- Direct communicator: can walk a skeptical stakeholder through a complex finding and get buy-in quickly.
- Owner: acts like their name is on the door and feels responsible for fixing things, even if outside their swim lane.
Responsibilities
- Sit on the central Data Science & Analytics team and be embedded in a core product or business area.
- Own the analytical function for a business unit end-to-end.
- Define the right problems by understanding the business question an analysis will answer and the decision it will inform.
- Push back on flawed questions.
- Define metrics, build reports, run analyses, design experiments, and surface data insights that move key metrics.
- Bring recommendations to counterparts in product, growth, finance, or operations.
- Communicate findings, explain what's happening and why, and propose next steps.
