Staff, Data Scientist
About The Position
A Staff data scientist would be expected to play an important role in developing and scaling data science solutions in order to achieve outstanding business outcomes for Marketplace. Working together with a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, implement, and test scalable solutions for marketing intelligence domain. Consult with business stakeholders across Marketplace functions regarding algorithm-based recommendations and be a thought-leader to develop these into business actions. Mentor junior members and Individually execute multiple projects at the same time. Manage the continuous improvement of data science and machine learning led initiatives by following industry best practices and staying up-to-date with the state-of-the-art in data science research. Excellent academic or industrial track record of proposing, conducting and reporting results of original research, plus collaborative research with publications.
Requirements
- Very good knowledge of the foundations of machine learning and statistics.
- Significant original contributions to machine learning and statistics in practice.
- Solid experience working with agentic, Gen AI, supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms on real-world problems.
- Strong Python coding skills.
- Proficiency in at least one other programming language such as Java/Scala.
- Ability to work in a big data ecosystem.
- Expert in SQL/Hive.
- Ability to work with Spark.
- Extensive experience building and deploying state-of-the-art models (classic ML and Deep learning).
- Strong ability to understand the business.
- Good stakeholder management capabilities.
- Mentored data scientists in developing ML solutions.

- Experience in ecommerce domain.
- Demonstrated success in data science platforms like Kaggle.
- Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences.
- Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.

- Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
