The Senior Staff Accountant supports Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), month end close activities, and account reconciliations. This role collaborates closely with internal teams to collect, analyze, and validate financial data and engages with external customers when necessary. The position supports compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and provides meaningful exposure to cross functional stakeholders, with opportunities to expand scope and responsibility over time. This position sits within the Finance & Accounting organization and partners closely with the Finance team. The Senior Staff Accountant serves as the Accounting Manager’s backup during absences and is expected to demonstrate strong collaboration, sound judgment, and informal leadership skills without direct people management responsibility. This position is well suited for a high performing, motivated professional interested in continued development and expanded leadership scope. The role offers opportunities to deepen technical accounting expertise, strengthen business partnerships, and assume additional responsibilities as the team responsibilities grow. This role serves as a key pipeline position for future senior or supervisory opportunities within the Accounting organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent practical experience required
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • CPA or CPA eligible (active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred)
  • Strong GAAP foundation with demonstrated experience in month end close and account reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills required (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Demonstrates curiosity and initiative; solution oriented with the ability to influence outcomes, manage competing priorities, and navigate organizational and systems change

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite and Concur preferred
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations and maintenance, system enhancements or integrations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Collections to resolve exceptions and improve accounting processes.
  • Support and own assigned components of the month‑end close (MEC), including invoicing, accruals, deferrals, depreciation, and reconciliations across the general ledger (GL), CRM, and order management systems.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Prepare monthly invoices using input from Marketing, Membership, Events, and Production teams.
  • Assist the Finance team with variance analysis questions and provide data support as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve accounting process documentation and SOPs; support knowledge transfer and cross‑training within the Accounting team.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in accounting systems; participate in system maintenance, enhancements, integrations and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Support external audit requests by preparing reconciliations, and journal entry support; ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls.
  • Act as backup to the Accounting Manager during absences, providing informal leadership, prioritization support, and continuity of operations.
