About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing plans and processes. This role will focus on mechanical assembly, machining, and production readiness to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and repeatable manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to transition products from development into production, support rate increases, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the factory floor. Requirements

  • Ability to gain security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience listed below
  • Supporting mechanical assembly, machining, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, routings, and bills of material.
  • Process optimization, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data and implement data-driven improvements, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • CAD tools and standard manufacturing software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or equivalent quality systems.
  • Experience supporting low-rate initial production (LRIP) and production scale-up.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with manufacturing technicians and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, routings, and bills of material to support production.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to influence producibility, manufacturability, and cost during product development.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and production readiness activities, including build planning and risk reduction.
  • Mechanical assembly, including cable and wire harness routing, installation, and retention.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues and nonconformances.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of manufacturing best practices.
  • Provide technical support to production, including troubleshooting assembly and fabrication issues.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
