About The Position

This position provides manufacturing engineering support for Turbomachinery components manufacturing at Solar Turbines’ Superior Gear facility. Responsibilities include detailed manufacturing planning, manufacturing process continuous improvement, first article proofing, tooling/fixture design, machine selection/requisition, process/quality control, and new product design and development support. The incumbent collaborates closely with fellow manufacturing engineers, design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, planning, and facility engineering. As Solar upgrades its ERP and implements MES (manufacturing execution system), the position will be supporting Solar production system migration from paper-based manual process to online manufacturing plan, standard work, parts tracking, data entry, and quality control. Requirements

  • 3+ year of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, initiative, and problem solving skills.
  • Willing to support production schedules, and be able to perform with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Precision components manufacturing experiences, like turning/milling, and grinding, especially gears and shafts
  • 6 Sigma and Lean process training and project experiences
  • Working experiences with CMM, NDT, solid modelling, machine CNC control, and NC programming
  • Knowledge and experience with MES

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed parts and assembly manufacturing plans and process requirements/operation instructions
  • Select/design tooling, fixtures, gauges, and develop optical inspection process (3D scan, etc.)
  • Lead production quality investigation, resolution, and improvement, using statistical tools, like Minitab for GR&R, SPC, and Cpk analysis
  • Support new product development for manufacturability
  • Create overhaul parts inspection and remanufacturing plans
  • Support supply chain quality resolution and improvement
  • Drive continuous process improvement
  • Define capital needs/requirements and procure machine and equipment
