Sr. Solutions Architect
About The Position
The Sr. Solutions Architect is a pre-sales resource who leads consultative discovery of customer business objectives and translates them into effective datacenter solutions. The role sells and architects compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud solutions from vendors including Dell/EMC, Pure, Cisco, VMware, Nutanix, AWS, and Azure. The architect leads pre-sales activities such as proposal development, proof-of-concept construction, demonstrations, roadmaps, and architecture design sessions. The role also authors statements of work for professional services in the datacenter business. It is based in Detroit or Grand Rapids, Michigan, and requires travel up to 25%.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Cisco UCS, Dell, and Pure; experience with other storage vendors is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of core networking, IP, subnetting, routing, VPN, and DirectConnect.
- Strong experience with virtualization, including VMware vSphere and Nutanix.
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, including Windows Server and Red Hat Linux.
- Core understanding of storage fundamentals, including RAID, snapshots, deduplication, compression, encryption, SAN/NAS, NFS, and iSCSI.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
- Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience.
- 7+ years designing and implementing complex datacenter solutions.
- 3+ years working with mid-market and enterprise environments across multiple verticals.
Nice To Haves
- Presales experience and/or experience working with a systems integrator.
- AWS and/or Azure experience for hybrid cloud conversations.
- Basic knowledge of automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, vRealize, and Terraform.
- Basic knowledge of container orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Basic understanding of observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Data protection experience with Commvault, Rubrik, or Cohesity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their requirements and business needs.
- Recommend solutions and strategies to customers.
- Build trusted relationships and technical expertise with vendor partners.
- Create functional designs and reference architectures, and assist with other project deliverables.
- Design technical solutions addressing customer requirements for availability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Create and deliver client-facing technical artifacts, including drawings and diagrams.
- Conduct customer-facing demonstrations of products and solutions.
- Collaborate with project teams on technical solutions to improve Presidio’s intellectual property.
- Stay current on technical developments related to the datacenter business and its partners.
- Collaborate with sales to build robust customer solutions.
- Perform customer assessments to support design, implementation, and ongoing support when required.
- Lead pre-sales activities, including proposal development, proof-of-concept construction, demonstrations, roadmaps, and architecture design sessions.
- Author statements of work for datacenter professional services.
- Provide weekly back-office support with internal teams to refine sales motions and technical activities.
