About The Position

VGS is seeking an experienced, customer-facing Sr. Solutions Architect with a strong software engineering background and deep knowledge of payment systems. The role aligns technical strategy with business goals by working with prospective and existing clients to understand their needs and design secure, scalable integrations. It involves advising payment companies and enterprise merchants on global payment infrastructure, processor connectivity, credential portability, tokenization, and sensitive payment data. The Sr. Solutions Architect partners with Sales and Account Management throughout the deal lifecycle, and with Product and Engineering to inform the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy. The position leads technical discovery and solution design, supports opportunities from discovery through implementation handoff, and provides technical oversight through launch. VGS is remote-first, with a hybrid schedule for employees living within 30 miles of an office location.

  • Ability to write production-grade code examples and reference implementations in one or more of Python, JavaScript, Java, or Ruby.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, negotiation, and prioritization skills.

  • Advise customers on payment security best practices, PCI scope reduction, credential portability, multi-processor setups, resiliency, and scaling.

  • Lead responses to RFIs, RFPs, security reviews, and architecture assessments.
  • Collaborate with customer engineers on APIs, webhooks, authentication, data models, error handling, and integrations.
  • Produce detailed handoffs covering solution architecture, assumptions, responsibilities, testing, success metrics, and out-of-scope items.
  • Provide technical oversight through launch to ensure implementations match approved architectures.
  • Translate customer and market feedback into actionable input for the VGS product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
