Sr. Software Engineer, Falcon NG-SIEM, FrontTier Expansions (Hybrid)

CrowdStrike•Austin, TX
•$140,000 - $220,000•Hybrid

About The Position

CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build software systems powering its global LogScale/NG-SIEM infrastructure. The FrontTier Expansions team enables LogScale fleets to run reliably across AWS, GCP, OCI, and CrowdStrike-managed datacenters. The engineer will own core services and automation frameworks that make multi-cloud expansion fast, safe, and repeatable, while mentoring others and raising the team's engineering standards. The role involves building software for systems that ingest more than 100 PB of event data daily, support decade-long data retention, serve millions of queries per hour, and support thousands of customers globally. It is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week onsite at the Austin, Texas office.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of full-time experience in a service-oriented backend developer role.
  • 5+ recent years developing SaaS product microservices in Go, Python, or a similar object-oriented/backend language.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or OCI), and eagerness and ability to learn others.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability challenges, and multithreading/concurrency concepts.
  • Experience designing and building microservices, automation tooling, or infrastructure-as-code frameworks for production systems.
  • Experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting applications in production Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience with configuration-management or IaC tools such as Chef, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, or Bitbucket.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Understanding of security-first design principles, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering best practices, including testing paradigms, code review, and resilient architecture.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and raise a team's technical bar.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams across time zones.
  • Self-starter mentality and ability to own problems end-to-end and drive them to resolution.
  • Availability for rotational on-call duty.
  • Proven experience using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Expert-level Go experience.
  • Experience with multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, GCP, OCI, or Azure.
  • Experience with LogScale/Humio, Kafka, or other distributed streaming/log-management systems.
  • Experience with data lake/lakehouse architectures or data federation at scale.
  • Kubernetes operator or Helm development experience, or CKA/CKAD/CKS certification.
  • SRE experience, including SLOs and error budgets, and observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS/GCP/OCI) and FinOps/cost-optimization experience.
  • Open-source contributions and effective use of AI coding assistants.
  • Computer science degree or commensurate experience; cybersecurity/SIEM background.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own core services and libraries supporting multi-cloud deployment and operation of LogScale fleets across AWS, GCP, OCI, and on-premises datacenters.
  • Develop automation tooling and microservices to standardize infrastructure and platform provisioning, upgrades, and scaling across cloud providers.
  • Build and extend observability tooling, including tracing, profiling, alerting, and SLO frameworks.
  • Architect solutions for capacity planning, workload forecasting, and dynamic scaling across heterogeneous cloud environments.
  • Contribute to shared-tier libraries and frameworks used across the NG-SIEM/LogScale platform.
  • Drive technical design for version upgrades, patch orchestration, and configuration management systems that minimize customer impact.
  • Implement security-first infrastructure designs, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging, aligned with cybersecurity standards and compliance requirements.
  • Adopt GitOps methodologies and DevSecOps best practices within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Act as a technical lead and liaison between FrontTier Expansions and internal stakeholders on infrastructure and platform capabilities.
  • Design, deploy, and troubleshoot services running in managed and self-managed Kubernetes clusters.
  • Mentor engineers on distributed systems design, cloud architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Promote reliable, scalable software practices and raise the team's technical bar.
  • Participate in a global production-infrastructure on-call rotation.
  • Continuously reassess architecture, performance, and reliability as the platform expands to new clouds and customers.
