About The Position

The Sr Software Engineer is the senior service-layer engineer for Disney Experiences’ Lodging & Resort Sales commerce team. The role is responsible for APIs that support guest-facing resort booking, modification, and cancellation experiences at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, including products such as Mods Hub, Disney Add-Ons, and Reservation Cancellation. It contributes to backend API architecture and delivery across multiple concurrent programs and ongoing sustainment, working with UI engineering, Quality Engineering, Product, cross-functional teams, and offshore service developers. The engineer designs and implements Java/Spring Boot microservices and owns API delivery from design through production deployment across development, latest, stage, load, and production environments. The role also guides offshore developers, manages environment configuration and observability, and resolves high-priority production incidents across Consumer, Travel Agent, Cast, and TAAP commerce flows. This is not a remote role; candidates must be in the area or willing to relocate.

Requirements

At least 5 years of related software engineering work experience.
Comfort working in an Agile environment.
Experience delivering across multiple concurrent workstreams with shared dependencies.
Experience managing multi-environment deployment pipelines from development through production, including configuration management and environment-specific provisioning.
Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot microservices, RESTful API design and implementation, service-oriented architecture patterns including DAO, Feign clients, and service connectors, AWS cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines using Harness.
Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools such as Amazon Q Developer, Kiro, GitHub Copilot, and Claude, with the ability to demonstrate creative application of AI to accelerate code generation, debugging, testing, and delivery.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

Commerce or e-commerce domain experience, such as reservations, pricing, or order management.
Experience leading or directing offshore/vendor development resources.
Familiarity with Disney’s internal services ecosystem.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Architect and implement Java/Spring Boot microservices for reservation booking, modifications, and cancellations across guest-facing commerce experiences.
Own end-to-end API delivery, from design through production deployment across Dev, Latest, Stage, Load, and Production environments.
Collaborate with and guide offshore service developers by assigning work, reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and validating feature completeness.
Design service-oriented architecture, including DAO patterns, Feign client integrations, and downstream service connectors for Disney’s commerce ecosystem.
Manage AuthZ scope provisioning, Nimbus and Vault environment configuration, and Splunk and AppDynamics observability dashboards.
Resolve P1/P2 production incidents across Consumer, Travel Agent, Cast, and TAAP booking, modification, and cancellation flows.
Partner with UI, QE, Product, and cross-functional teams to develop technical approaches and unblock delivery.
Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, systems, and applications.
Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code generation, debugging, testing, and delivery.
