Sr. Software Development Engineer
About The Position
AMD is hiring a Sr. Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations. The role applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products. The engineer develops software and tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based tools, and internet-related tools. The position determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Working in an area of specialization, the engineer develops systems-level software and addresses complex-scope problems that require reviewing a variety of factors. The work applies knowledge of computers and electronics, engineering science and technology, and engineering principles and best practices to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products. Multiple openings are available. Travel is not required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- One year of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
- One year of experience in Object-Oriented Design.
- One year of experience in multi-threading.
- One year of experience in software debugging on macOS, Linux, or Unix.
- One year of experience in REST API design and development.
- One year of experience in distributed systems, data structures, and algorithm optimization.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations.

- Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.
- Develop systems-level software within an area of specialization and address complex-scope problems requiring analysis of a variety of factors.
- Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.
