About The Position

BeyondTrust is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer to develop robust, reliable, scalable, and efficient cloud-based services. As a member of the Platform Core Services team, this role designs and maintains foundational capabilities that support multiple product lines, including authentication and authorization (AuthN/AuthZ), onboarding, role-based access control (RBAC), reporting, auditing, notifications, and platform APIs. The position addresses cloud-scale challenges, establishes engineering best practices, and contributes to the reliability and performance of BeyondTrust’s identity security platform. Previous experience on platform, core, or shared services teams is highly desired.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering enterprise-ready, cloud-based systems focused on performance, security, and scalability.
• Strong proficiency in one or more of C#, Go, or Java.
• Experience with API services, distributed systems, and microservice architectures.
• Deep understanding of AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, with hands-on experience designing for scalability, observability, and reliability.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), Docker, and cloud-native application design.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or Terragrunt.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins.
• Hands-on experience with Datadog, Prometheus, or similar monitoring tools.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and align multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding of customer needs and how technical solutions support business objectives.
• Strong teamwork, constructive feedback, and learning orientation.
• Ability to communicate value, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended direction effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient microservices that provide platform-wide capabilities and support multiple product teams.
• Implement and manage monitoring and alerting with Datadog, and promote best practices for logging, tracing, and monitoring.
• Use Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Optimize deployment pipelines to improve reliability and developer efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership in system design, architecture, and best practices for scalable services.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other teams to align platform capabilities with business needs and ensure smooth integrations.
• Participate in operational reviews, post-mortems, and reliability initiatives; create follow-up actions for incident resolution.
• Improve system stability and scalability, reduce technical debt, and increase engineering efficiency through automation and best practices.
