About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a Sr. Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating-systems-level software, compilers, and network-distribution software for semiconductor operations. The role includes designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products, as well as developing software and tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. These platforms may include operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud-based and internet-related tools.

The engineer will design and develop next-generation test automation systems and contribute to the development and enhancement of a common automation framework. Working in an area of specialization, the role addresses complex-scope problems requiring analysis of varied factors. Under limited supervision, the engineer exercises judgment within company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria. The role applies knowledge of computers and electronics, engineering science and technology, engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products. Travel is not required. Multiple openings are available.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• One year of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering or technical/software consultant role.
• One year of experience with Python and JavaScript.
• One year of experience with object-oriented design, multithreading, and data structures.
• One year of experience in Unix or Linux environments.
• One year of experience performing software testing and quality assurance.
• One year of experience with web service technology such as REST, XML, or JSON.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and/or test operating-systems-level software, compilers, and network-distribution software for semiconductor operations.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
• Develop software and tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud-based and internet-related tools.
• Design and develop next-generation test automation systems.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of a common automation framework.
• Analyze complex-scope problems by reviewing a variety of factors and select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria under limited supervision.
• Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.
