About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a Sr. Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations. The role involves designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products, and building software and tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud- and internet-related tools.

The engineer will develop software to enable a world-class experience for users of AMD accelerator cloud, work cross-functionally to understand requirements and develop the product roadmap, and determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. The role focuses on systems-level software and complex problems requiring analysis of varied factors. It applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, electronics, and engineering science and technology, including expertise in Kubernetes for large-scale AI model training, Python and/or distributed training, fine-tuning, or inference of ML/AI models, and Linux. The engineer will apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products. Multiple openings are available. Travel is not required.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• One year of experience in the job offered or a closely related software engineering or systems engineering role.
• One year of experience with Kubernetes for training large-scale AI models.
• One year of experience with object-oriented design.
• One year of experience in distributed training, fine-tuning, or inference of ML or AI models.
• One year of experience with memory management and multithreading.
• One year of experience with software debugging on macOS, Linux, or Unix.
• One year of experience in open-source software development.
• One year of experience with low-level device drivers.
• Knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, applications, and programming.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.

• Develop systems-level software in an area of specialization, addressing complex-scope problems that require analysis of varied factors.
• Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.
