About The Position

Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial Division is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer to join its Software Engineering team in Arlington Heights, Illinois, in the Chicago area. The role focuses on designing, documenting, and testing embedded software for safety-critical on-highway applications, working closely with hardware and software engineers. The position also involves supporting quotes and new product development and interfacing with customers.

Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
At least 4–5 years of embedded software development experience.
Strong proficiency in C and C++.
Experience using debuggers and emulation tools.
Ability to develop embedded solutions for rapid prototyping and concept demonstration, as well as quality embedded products for customers.
Ability to learn technical topics quickly, multitask, and communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Experience with automotive embedded software and CAN bus.
Hands-on experience with a CAN analyzer.

Nice To Haves

Experience with IBM ELM, including DOORS.
Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity under ISO 21434.
Knowledge of functional safety under ISO 26262.
UDS implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Design, document, and test embedded software for safety-critical on-highway applications.
Design and develop software test plans, and perform and document testing of embedded code.
Prepare documentation in accordance with APQP and ASPICE standards.
Develop, perform, and document system test cases.
Work with software and hardware engineers on quotes and new products.
Interface with customers.
