About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The team collaborates with diverse specialists including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain experts, security professionals, and operations managers. They work on complex challenges within the supply chain, aiming to deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing immense capacity at the lowest cost. The AWS Data Center Engineering - BIM & AI Technologies team is at the forefront of developing next-generation AI-powered design automation for AWS's global data center infrastructure. They are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer with expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create and implement innovative solutions that will revolutionize data center design documentation processes at scale. As a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE III) on this team, you will lead the design and implementation of new generative AI applications aimed at assisting architects, engineers, construction managers, and facility operators. You will collaborate with software engineers, applied scientists, UX designers, product managers, and industry domain experts to architect scalable, production-ready systems. These systems will integrate BIM platforms, desktop applications, cloud services, and AI technologies to expedite facility design workflows. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Ownership (AECO) industry knowledge along with advanced software engineering skills to productionize ML models, mentor junior engineers, and address complex design automation challenges within the building engineering and construction sector on an unprecedented scale. The position demands both deep technical leadership and the ability to connect software engineering with domain expertise in BIM and the AECO industry. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap for AI-native design automation, balancing innovation with practical implementation, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives. This is a greenfield opportunity to develop systems that will fundamentally alter how Amazon designs and delivers data center facilities globally.
