Sr. Social Media Manager

Camping WorldChicago, IL
Onsite

About The Position

Camping World is looking for a Senior Social Media Manager in Chicago, IL to take ownership of our social media presence and lead a high-performing team. You will set the vision, align your team around a clear direction, and drive the strategy, content, and visuals that grow our audience and build a community that genuinely cares about Camping World and the RV lifestyle. The ideal candidate has built something real before: a growing brand account, a strong team, and a track record of using data to make smarter content decisions. You understand how to build a brand that people trust, not just content that performs, and you know how to speak to an audience that is passionate, loyal, and highly engaged in the lifestyle we serve. You are deeply embedded in social media culture, you understand what makes people stop, watch, and share, and you have the creative eye and production instincts to bring that to life visually. You bring equal parts strategy and personality to everything you create. This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility and the ability to respond to real-time social media activity and trending moments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of social media experience managing brand accounts at scale, with a proven track record of hitting KPIs including follower growth, engagement rate, impressions, and reach.
  • Proven experience directly managing and developing a team of people. You have hired, coached, and held people accountable before and you take that responsibility seriously.
  • A natural leader who can set a vision, communicate it clearly, and get a team moving in the same direction. People know what they are working toward and why.
  • A results-driven mindset. You can point to specific growth, performance wins, and strategic decisions you made that moved the needle.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills with a deep understanding of hooks, captions, short-form scripts, and platform-native formats. You know how to write in a way that stops the scroll and drives action.
  • A natural understanding of relatability, humor, and cultural relevance. You know what resonates with real people and how to translate that into content that feels authentic, not corporate.
  • Proven hands-on experience in content creation, including shooting video, directing talent, and producing photo and video content. You understand what makes content look and feel native to each platform and bring that eye to how you lead, brief, and elevate what your team produces.
  • Experience building brand affinity and trust with a passionate, highly engaged audience. You understand the difference between content that entertains and content that converts, and you know how to deliver both.
  • Deep understanding of the platforms’ algorithms, experience operating within an enterprise social media management platform, actively use the latest tools including AI, and apply that knowledge to maximize performance.
  • Strong analytical ability. You pull reports, identify what the data means, present findings clearly to senior leadership, and make decisions based on what you learn.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure social content is aligned with broader business goals.
  • A strong understanding of influencer and community dynamics. You do not run those programs, but you have the experience to collaborate effectively and contribute meaningfully alongside the people who do.

Nice To Haves

  • Passion for the outdoors, camping, or the RV lifestyle is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision for Camping World's social media presence across multiple brands and align your team around a clear creative direction, content priorities, brand voice, and posting cadence.
  • Lead and develop a team of multiple direct reports, setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and investing in their growth and development.
  • Manage and grow social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads, and Reddit for multiple brands and lines of business on behalf of Camping World Holdings.
  • Own the content calendar from planning and briefing through production, scheduling, and going live across all channels.
  • Serve as the final approver of all content across all brands and platforms, ensuring every post meets brand standards and reflects the quality and voice we stand for before it goes live.
  • Develop and lead a local social media strategy across 200+ local accounts, creating content and programming designed to build genuine community within the markets Camping World operates in.
  • Write sharp, platform-native copy including hooks, captions, scripts, and CTAs that are built to perform and reflect the brand voice.
  • Define and own KPIs including follower growth, engagement rate, impressions, and reach, reporting performance and strategic recommendations to the Social Media Director on a regular cadence.
  • Analyze performance data to determine what is working and what is not, then use those insights to change what you plan, create, and publish next.
  • Manage budget across content production, tools, and resources, making smart decisions on where to invest to get the best output from your team.
  • Stay on top of platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging trends, and move fast when there is an opportunity to show up for our audience in a relevant way.
  • Partner closely with the Social Media Director, Influencer and Partnership Manager, and Community Manager to keep social content connected to what is happening across the broader marketing org.
  • Build the systems and workflows that let your team produce great content consistently at scale.
  • Strategize and launch an employee ambassador program that empowers team members across the organization to authentically represent and advocate for the Camping World brand.
