Sr. SAP Integration Architect

Auger•Bellevue, WA

About The Position

AugerOS reads customers’ operational data, models their supply chains, recommends decisions on allocation, sourcing, risk, and execution, and writes those decisions back into the systems where work gets done. For many enterprise manufacturing and distribution customers, that system is SAP. The Sr. SAP Integration Architect makes SAP data ingestion and decision write-back work with appropriate authorization, idempotency, and audit trails. The role serves as Auger’s SAP authority, assessing customers’ actual SAP landscapes and designing engagement-specific ingestion and write-back approaches. When changes within customer SAP systems are needed, the architect scopes the work, selects and directs specialist partners, and evaluates whether deliverables are fit to ship. The position works between Auger engineering, customer SAP and IT teams, and third-party SAP partners, with responsibility for establishing discovery processes, reference architectures, and a partner bench that can be used across the company. The architect leads customer discovery, designs integration approaches, manages SAP partners, and develops Auger’s SAP capabilities and guidance. The work spans customer-facing architecture, partner and contractual oversight, and education, with decisions that can affect what customers buy, move, and ship.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with SAP, including at least 5 years in integration or technical architecture.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on depth in IDocs, BAPIs/RFCs, OData, CDS views, ODP/ODQ, and SLT, plus at least one middleware platform: PI/PO, CPI, or BTP.
  • Working knowledge of the supply chain data model in ECC and S/4HANA, including MM, SD, PP, and WM or EWM, as well as key tables and document flows.
  • Experience integrating SAP data with Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric, or a hyperscaler data lake.
  • Knowledge of SAP security, including roles, technical users, OAuth, principal propagation, and their application to third-party integrations.
  • Experience scoping, contracting, and managing SAP subcontractors or systems integrators, including evaluating statements of work and estimates.
  • Ability to lead workshops with a customer’s SAP CoE and explain outcomes clearly to engineers and executives who are not familiar with SAP.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and developing approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery sessions with customer SAP teams to map their SAP landscape, including systems, hosting, instances and clients, middleware, and extraction tools.
  • Determine how customers have configured and customized relevant SAP objects, including materials, bills of materials, purchasing and sales orders, deliveries, inventory, MRP, vendors, and customers.
  • Produce landscape diagrams, object and field mappings, data-volume and change-frequency profiles, and open-risk logs.
  • Select suitable data extraction patterns for each customer from options including ODP/ODQ, SLT, CDS views, OData, IDocs, BAPIs/RFCs, Datasphere and Business Data Cloud, third-party tools, files, and event-driven approaches.
  • Design SAP write-backs, including purchase orders, stock transport orders, and allocations, with attention to authorization, principal propagation, error handling, idempotency, and auditability.
  • Evaluate integration options against customer licensing, SAP API and extraction policies, security requirements, and IT preferences, and drive agreement on a design.
  • Work with Auger engineers on landing SAP data in Snowflake, Databricks, or Fabric and mapping it to Auger’s data model.
  • Define work required inside customer SAP systems, such as custom CDS views, function modules, BAdIs, iFlows, and authorization roles.
  • Source and evaluate SAP subcontractors, review their statements of work for scope, estimates, and assumptions, and hold them accountable for quality and dates.
  • Review partner designs and deliverables and translate between partner work and Auger’s architecture.
  • Build Auger’s SAP integration playbook, including discovery templates, reference architectures, object catalogs, and decision guides.
  • Coach engineers and engagement leads so they can handle routine SAP questions independently.
  • Track SAP developments, including S/4 migrations, BTP, Business Data Cloud, and API and licensing changes, and explain their strategic implications to Auger.
