About The Position

The Sr. Regulatory Affairs Associate will primarily be responsible for global product regulatory compliance, hazard communication, product safety & risk mitigation, and life cycle management activities for the Electrical Markets Division (EMD). This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with innovative and diverse people, developing and executing technical activities for regulatory compliance, assessing safety and risk to human health and the environment, liability avoidance, and life cycle management for existing and new products, applications, and technologies. The associate will provide guidance on regulatory compliance and safety processes, declarations, claims, change management, and new regulations. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining documents such as Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), labels, and safety leaflets, and assisting global customers with product EHS&R inquiries. The role also involves developing professional relationships with technical managers and R&D personnel within 3M EMD's product portfolios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Completed two semesters or more post-secondary courses in chemistry
  • One (1) year or more of experience in a regulated industry
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and influencing skills
  • Ability to work well in diverse teams
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Technical or related degree from an accredited institution
  • Three years or more of combined experience in product EHS Regulatory Compliance or Product Safety and/or Product Stewardship experience within a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Expertise in hardgoods safety standards
  • Experience with Global PLM (ENOVIA)
  • Project management experience

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing technical activities leading to regulatory compliance, effective assessment of safety and risk to human health and the environment, liability avoidance, and life cycle management concerning existing and new products, applications and technologies having significant importance to Electrical Markets Division (EMD).
  • Providing timely direction and guidance to the business and its customers regarding regulatory compliance and safety processes and declarations, claims, change management and new and emerging regulations, industry standards and trends.
  • Creating, managing and maintaining documents including Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), labels, safety leaflets, regulatory compliance plans for new and existing internal materials and commercial products.
  • Assisting 3M global internal and external customers with their product EHS&R inquiries including regulated lists, RoHS/WEEE, REACH/SVHC, global inventories, local, state, federal and global regulations.
  • Developing strong professional relationships with technical managers and R&D personnel focused on 3M EMD's product portfolios.
  • Complying with corporate policies, procedures and security standards while performing assigned duties.
  • Contributing to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement.
