About The Position

Stewart & Stevenson Manufacturing Technologies is seeking a Contract Senior Recruiter to support recruiting and selection for their Houston manufacturing operations. This role involves partnering with supervisors, managers, trade schools, and candidates to identify, engage, and move talent through a thoughtful hiring process. It's an opportunity for a hands-on talent acquisition professional who enjoys full-cycle recruiting, relationship building, hiring events, creative sourcing, and making a measurable impact on hiring quality, candidate experience, and retention.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of recruiting, HR, or talent acquisition experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, skilled trades, or high-volume hiring environment.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and job boards to attract, screen, and evaluate candidates.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers, supervisors, employees, staffing partners, and community organizations.
  • Strong sourcing and candidate engagement skills, including comfort with cold outreach, referrals, social media, events, and job boards.
  • Ability to schedule, coordinate, and attend hiring events, job fairs, college events, trade school events, and local community recruiting activities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively and professionally.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people and personalities.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruitment, including candidate engagement, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, selection support, candidate communication, and onboarding handoff.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to understand open positions, define required qualifications, and build recruiting strategies that support quality hires.
  • Source candidates through cold outreach, employee referrals, job fairs, social media, job boards, outside agencies, and community partnerships.
  • Review applications in the applicant tracking system and evaluate work history, education, training, job skills, compensation requirements, and role alignment.
  • Conduct preliminary interviews and assess candidates for relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience, aptitudes, and overall fit for the role.
  • Refer qualified candidates to the next stage of the hiring process and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
  • Serve as a liaison with outside employment agencies, recruiters, local colleges, trade schools, and community organizations.
  • Respond to candidate, employee, supervisor, and manager inquiries related to staffing activity and career opportunities.
  • Maintain recruiting records and candidate disposition information in alignment with company policy and applicable employment regulations.
  • Support recruiting practices that comply with federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity requirements and company policy.
