General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr Quality Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.
  • Very solid knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and AS9146
  • Very solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Very solid written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Very solid skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Very solid ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound quality engineering practices
  • Very solid knowledge of interpretation of drawings
  • Very solid skills in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques
  • Very solid skills in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
  • Very solid interpersonal skills
  • Very solid knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
  • Very solid computer skills, both desktop software and required factory or engineering tools
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
  • Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products
  • Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
  • Reviews Documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements
  • Complete FAI, TDP reviews, and other compliance activities as necessary
  • Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, and verifies implementation of rework
  • Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
  • Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
  • Represent the company and program to customers
  • Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews
  • Verifies compliance to defined requirements
  • Witnesses and or monitors test activities
  • Interfaces with various engineering disciplines, manufacturing, program management, and other quality personnel
  • Some contact with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality departments
  • Works as an individual technical contributor on one or multiple project
  • Participates as an active member of the project team
  • Interfaces with customer representatives
  • Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope
  • Travel may be required
  • Security clearance may be required
