About The Position

The SR Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading Quality Planning & Program Launch activities, ensuring manufacturing quality oversight, driving problem-solving and root cause analysis, acting as a customer interface, promoting continuous improvement, and supporting supplier quality initiatives. This role requires a strong background in automotive manufacturing quality, particularly with Tier 1 suppliers and OEM customer interaction, and expertise in various manufacturing processes and quality tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related).
  • 8–10+ years in automotive manufacturing quality.
  • Experience with Tier 1 suppliers and OEM customer interaction.
  • Strong background in hot forming / press hardening, Roll Forming, Welding technologies, and Assembly processes.
  • Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and problem-solving tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Familiarity with quality software (e.g., QMS systems).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with OEM-specific systems: GM BIQS, Ford Q1, Stellantis Customer Specific Requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead APQP activities in alignment with OEM requirements (GM, Ford, Stellantis).
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEA / DFMEA, and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Coordinate PPAP submissions and approvals with customers.
  • Support new product launches and engineering changes (ECNs).
  • Monitor and improve quality performance in hot forming processes, welding operations, and assembly lines for underbody systems.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead structured problem-solving using 8D methodology, 5 Whys, and Fishbone (Ishikawa) analysis.
  • Respond to customer complaints and warranty issues.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Act as primary quality contact for OEM customers.
  • Lead customer audits, visits, and quality reviews.
  • Manage customer scorecards and performance metrics.
  • Ensure timely response to SPPS/PRRs (Problem Resolution Reports).
  • Identify and lead initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and variation.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Improve process capability (Cp, Cpk) and reduce defects (PPM).
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality team on incoming issues.
  • Support supplier audits and development activities.
