About The Position

The Sr. Quality Assurance Technician helps ensure AAON’s HVAC products meet rigorous quality standards through advanced inspection, testing, and documentation. The role leads quality control efforts across multiple stages of production, supports quality initiatives and quality-system development, mentors junior technicians, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve product reliability. The position requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The technician works in a manufacturing facility and may travel occasionally for supplier audits or training. PPE is required in designated areas, and flexible hours may be needed based on production schedules.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 5 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably HVAC or mechanical systems.
Advanced knowledge of inspection tools, measurement techniques, and quality control processes.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality software tools such as SPC and Minitab.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to identify and resolve complex quality issues.
Manual dexterity to operate precision instruments and visual acuity for detailed inspections and reading technical documents.
Ability to stand for extended periods, walk across production areas, handle inspection equipment, and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to concentrate, think analytically, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or technical certification in quality assurance, manufacturing technology, or HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced inspections and functional testing of HVAC components and systems using specialized tools and equipment.
Lead investigations into non-conformances and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
Review and interpret complex technical documentation, including engineering drawings and specifications.
Train and mentor Quality Assurance Technician I staff on inspection techniques, documentation standards, and company procedures.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve product reliability.
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and participating in audit activities.
Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection equipment is functioning properly.
Contribute to developing and refining AAON’s quality management system and standard operating procedures.
