About The Position

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the company’s Quality Management System and ensuring products and processes meet AS9100, customer, regulatory, and government contract requirements. This role oversees quality assurance, audits, corrective actions, supplier quality, inspection, and continuous improvement. Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the Engineered Products Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radio Frequency (RF) product lines.

Requirements

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
Strong understanding of inspection and measurement processes
Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
Ability to work effectively with customers, auditors, government representatives, engineers, and production personnel
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality/ERP systems
Ability and willingness to make independent quality decisions, including placing product on hold when requirements are not met
Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of quality experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
3+ years of quality leadership/management experience.
Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001.
Experience with audits, corrective action, nonconformance management, and root-cause analysis.

Nice To Haves

Government contracting experience and knowledge of FAR/DFARS preferred.
Experience working with aerospace customers and/or government contractors preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer requirements, FAR/DFARS, and applicable government contract requirements.
Lead internal, customer, registrar, and government audits.
Manage nonconformances, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and quality escapes.
Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
Monitor supplier quality and corrective actions.
Serve as the primary quality contact for customers and government representatives.
Track quality metrics, including defects, scrap, rework, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
Lead and develop Quality personnel.
Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management to resolve quality issues.
Maintain quality records, traceability, and compliance documentation.
Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
