Sr. QA Engineer

Plus One Robotics•San Antonio, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

As a Senior QA Engineer at Plus One Robotics, you will ensure that robotic systems—including their software and hardware—are dependable and high quality. You will deploy and test software on Linux-based industrial PCs (IPCs), build and maintain automated test suites, analyze logs and stack traces to identify failures, and verify products end to end in a physical robot cell. You will work with developers to find and verify fixes, product owners to confirm product intent, and customers to understand field use. This is a senior-level position; entry-level candidates are not being considered. The role includes defining and implementing testing strategies; creating test plans, cases, and documentation; developing automated tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines; performing manual testing when automation is not feasible; and building internal QA tools and scripts. You will deploy software builds to Linux-based systems, diagnose failures from logs and stack traces, document and track bugs in GitLab, verify fixes, and use Git and GitLab to review branches, tags, merge requests, pipelines, issues, and epics. You will also test POR robotic systems, including InductOne, troubleshoot across software, electrical, and mechanical subsystems, and collaborate with product owners, developers, customers, and other stakeholders. The position includes mentoring interns and junior teammates. This is a full-time, in-office role at the company’s San Antonio headquarters, scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some travel is expected for customer support and deployments. The stated salary range starts at $112,000 per year, with starting salary based on years of experience. Visa sponsorship is not available.

  • Familiarity with C++.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI.
  • Experience with Docker or other containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement testing strategies for new and existing products, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and stability testing.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and documentation based on requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and perform manual tests when automation is not feasible.
  • Build internal tools and scripts to improve QA workflows, test data collection, and log analysis.
  • Install, deploy, and configure software builds and deploy packages on Linux-based industrial PCs and test systems.
  • Analyze stack traces, application logs, and system output to isolate failures and provide actionable findings to developers.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs in GitLab, including reproduction steps and supporting logs or screenshots.
  • Work with developers to verify fixes and confirm there are no regressions.
  • Use Git and GitLab to check out branches and tags, review merge requests and pipelines, and manage issues and epics.
  • Conduct hands-on end-to-end testing of POR robotic systems, including InductOne.
  • Troubleshoot system-level faults to determine whether they originate in software, electrical, or mechanical subsystems.
  • Advocate for customers and end users by maintaining high standards for quality and usability.
  • Work with product owners to confirm features meet requirements and intended customer use, and participate in acceptance and release sign-off.
  • Present QA data, test results, and analyses clearly to customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor interns and junior-level teammates by sharing best practices, providing technical guidance, reviewing work, and supporting professional development.
  • Travel as needed for customer support and deployments.
