About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across the Lower Peninsula. The company is committed to delivering reliable, clean, and affordable energy 24/7. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. It is a hybrid role requiring onsite days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at Karn Weadock in Essexville, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate, with relocation assistance available for qualified individuals. The Senior Program Engineer is responsible for overseeing the engineering and technical disciplines necessary for successful project completion. This includes planning projects, establishing project criteria, coordinating reviews, and ensuring the proper implementation of all project elements. The role involves scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing all technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from conception through completion.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in design and visualization software such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
  • Familiarity with industry rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with four (4) or more years of experience in a program engineer capacity
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license with seven (7) or more years of experience in a program engineer capacity

Responsibilities

  • Support an Agile project delivery cadence by balancing team performance with tight deadlines.
  • Develop specifications for required project equipment.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, regulations, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate engineering tasks and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to project managers and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team members.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders and develop a deep understanding of their business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
